This link takes you to the VEX IQ build instructions, where you can see "Byte", the robot designed for this year's game, and this takes you to the game manual.

The VEX Robotics program was adopted by KCS in 2018 and is available to students enrolled in Kanawha County Schools.  To be on a team, students should be enrolled at a KCS school, in this case, Alban Elementary.  Preference is given to students in fourth and fifth grade, and tryouts are held at the school.  Information is available from Mrs. Michael ([email protected]) or Mrs. Lampl ([email protected]).

VEX Robotics is a cooperative competition and is student-based.  The program used at the elementary level is called VEX IQ.  Students will design (or choose a design), build, drive, and program the robot with minimal help from the coaches.  Parent involvement is appreciated, there will be a meeting in August/September to discuss volunteer opportunities and specific needs.  Some fundraising will need to occur to help cover registration costs for the robots, as well as parts and substitute coverage for schooltime competitions.  Last year we hosted a competition at the school, which was very exciting and great fun.  We hope to host a competition this year as well, and will need parent help for that.

Each year a new game is announced by VEX Robotics at the World Championships held in May.  This year's game is called Full Volume and you can view a video that explains the game here.  The instructions for the game can be found on the VEX IQ website, or by clicking here.
