Arrival Procedure

Students will arrive between 7:15 and 7:45 each day.  Entrance to the building will be directly through the external classroom doors, where available. The teacher or other staff member will be standing at the door, and parents will not be allowed into the school.  Breakfast will be provided in the classroom.

Parents are asked to stay in their cars when dropping off and picking up students.

Dismissal Procedure

Dismissal will be 20 minutes earlier this year to accommodate transportation needs with COVID procedures in place.  Alban will dismiss at 1:55.  Car riders will be issued identification to be displayed in each car so students can be dismissed directly from their classrooms.  This eliminates a large group of students standing together waiting for their ride.  Bus riders will remain in their classrooms until their bus arrives and will be escorted to the bus in small groups.  A specific dismissal schedule will be posted after the start of the school year.

Check-in/Check-out/Tardy Procedure

When students are checked in or out for a midday appointment or arrive tardy to school, there will be an attendance desk by the front door where they can be signed in or out.  This reduces the number of people inside our school and reduced potential exposure.

COVID-19 Policy and Procedure

Due to HIPAA and FERPA, the school is not permitted to share medical information about individuals.  If a student or staff member tests positive, the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department will handle contact tracing and disbursement of information.

If a student or staff member from your child's classroom tests positive for COVID-19, the classroom will be shut down for at least two days.  During that time eLearning will be used for instruction, and the classroom will be deep cleaned by trained staff.

There is a COVID Isolation room in the school where students exhibiting two or more symptoms of COVID (Temperature of 100.4 F or greater, Repeated shaking or chills, Shortness of breath, New or worsening cough, New loss of sense of taste or smell) will go to wait for a parent to pick them up.

The isolation room will be disinfected between uses, and masks will be in place within the room.

Should My Child Come to School?

If your child has been exposed to someone with COVID-19, is experiencing symptoms of COVID (see attached chart), or has had a diagnosis of COVID-19 they should remain home.
